Rustique-Part Two

Rustique in Suamico offers many choices for your dining experience. I have never been disappointed with any of the entrees I’ve ordered. Last week a friend and I lunched there again. I picked one of their daily specials printed on the huge chalkboard at the back of the dining room. It was an arugula and prosciutto pizza with goat cheese, topped with olive oil and lemon.  This pie sounded different than any I’ve eaten before.  And it was. The arugula was so fresh and all the ingredients blended perfectly. The dough is hand tossed in the open kitchen for our viewing pleasure and baked in a brick oven. Enjoying this pizza reminded me to get out of my comfort zone more often. I recommend Rustique to anyone looking for a delicious meal. True nosh!

Rustique

Formerly a church, Rustique now houses a wonderful eating establishment.  A friend had enjoyed  a number of meals there and mentioned that they were scrumptious.  The two of us soon motored to historic Suamico, a small village just north of Green Bay.

When we entered, Denise and I appreciated the original vaulted ceilings and hardwood floors of the chapel.  It was beautiful.  The place was hopping which is always a good sign of customer satisfaction.  We found seats and ordered Bloody Marys as we took a look at the menu.

An array of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and baskets were offered.  They serve the traditional cod and perch fry every day which is music to the ears of many Wisconsinites.. The brick oven pizza looked outstanding and was their specialty, but their signature sandwich was a Cuban called “El Duque.” It boasted slow-roasted pulled pork, thick-sliced ham, pickle, red onion, Swiss cheese, mustard, and mayo.  We lingered over our tasty drinks and finally made our decisions.  Denise and  I couldn’t resist the “El Duque.”  We were not disappointed.  We both upped the standard French fries with orders of Pesto fries.  If you like pesto, these potatoes  should be on your list.  I’ll order them again.  The sandwich was very hearty and filling, yet seemed to melt in my mouth.  True Nosh!20150522_165619278_iOS20150522_173717314_iOS
